Gear pump The gap between the working teeth is very compact, which makes it have a very good self-priming capacity and volume power, but the tight gap between the teeth also restricts the maximum allowable size of particles.
So, can the internal gear pump handle liquid containing particles? Can such a tight space between teeth allow particles in the liquid? The answer is yes, please look down!
The size of particulates is the main factor to be considered when gear pumps need to handle liquids containing particulates
Although the clearance between teeth of internal gear pump is very tight, there is still a certain clearance. Considering the service of processing, this clearance is also a range. In theory, as long as the size of particles in the liquid is smaller than the gap between rotating parts, the particles can be pumped out with the liquid.
However, there are still many factors that need to be considered comprehensively. Particle size is a major factor. The same cannot be ignored is the hardness, shape, composition of particles and the content of particles in liquid.
If the particle size is larger than the gap between the rotor and the pump casing, and the hardness of the particle is lower than that of the pump parts, the particle will be squeezed into the pump cavity and discharged together with the medium, and only the power of the motor is enough.
However, when the size of particles is large and the hardness is high, these particles will leave wear marks between parts. If too many wear marks accumulate, they will constitute wear and eventually lead to unstable flow and even shaft seal leakage. Too large particles will also block the operation of the pump, and even cause damage to the pump, such as broken teeth, broken shaft and other major problems.
VIKING gear pump Solution plan - device filter

After studying various plans, VIKING's research team found that a filter at the pump inlet is a very effective way to prevent particles from entering the pump. Moreover, the contribution of the device filter will be repaid quickly due to the prolongation of the service life of the pump.
VIKING's research team, after comprehensively considering the needs of customers, selects diversified filtering products for customers. VIKING has products including "easy opening cover basket filter", "bolt cover plate filter" and "duplex filter".
