Why the pneumatic double diaphragm pump (AODD pump) is very suitable for oil and gas industry applications

It is well known that the oil and gas profession consists of so-called "dirty work". Oil and gas operators understand this very well and understand that they need robust and reliable equipment to accept the worst conditions and help their operators operate more easily. This is SANDPIPER The pneumatic double barrier (AODD) pump works locally.

AODD pumps are known for their forgiving technology. They allow you to pump various liquids and handle suspended and non suspended solids at various temperatures, and these factors may wear out other positive displacement pump technologies faster. They also have many safety and convenience functions that other pumps lack.

For these reasons, operators of the oil and gas industry and other demanding malls such as mining, chemical industry and meat and poultry processing turned to AODD pumps.

G series dual power pump provides safety and convenience

Although AODD pumps traditionally operate with compressed air, SANDPIPER also supplies a series of G series dual power pumps, which use local natural gas reserves that are easy to access. Warren Rupp, the parent company of SANDPIPER, took the lead in introducing the pneumatic double barrier (GODD) pump category, and cooperated with the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) to develop safety certification for it.

Today, SANDPIPER is the only GODD pump manufacturer that supplies a full range of CSA Blue Star (ANSI LC6)/Blue Flame (Canadian technical letter R-14) certified pumps, with sizes ranging from ½ "To 3".

G series pumps have passed the most stringent certification of safety and reliability in oil and gas application. They are made to avoid the accumulation of electrostatic charges, and are completely grounded to ensure the dissipation of static electricity. In fact, they were tested for hydrostatic strength at 500 PSI - five times the occupational maximum operating pressure of 100 PSI. SCHMERSAL

In addition, the elastic seals of G series pumps have been tested to be compatible with chemicals expected to be found in sweet gas and sour gas. These pumps were also leak tested and spied at 150 PSI before delivery to ensure proper control of natural gas emissions, and they meet the corrosion resistance of NACE specification MR0175/ISO 15156.

All of these functions are designed to give oil and gas operators the freedom to work around risks or flammable gases and fluids.

Another important part of pumps used in oil and gas stores is convenience. The SANDPIPER pump is specially equipped with an externally repairable air/gas distribution system (ESADS+PLUS) to ensure that the operator can repair the pump without completely disassembling it. With ESADS+PLUS, it only takes a few minutes to repair the main air valve or pilot valve on site, only one wrench is needed, and only four bolts need to be removed.

Application of AODD Pump in Oil and Natural Gas

AODD pumps are suitable for various applications in the upstream and midstream shopping malls of oil and gas industries. Let's take a look at each.

 SANDPIPER

Upstream: cellar pumping and drilling mud transportation

G series heavy-duty flap valve pump is driven by natural gas or compressed air, which is the ideal choice of the upstream shopping malls. It is suitable for cellar oil pan and mud transportation, such as drilling rig cellar bottom, mud supplement, filtration and sedimentation tank transportation. Disc check valve design allows larger solids than traditional ball valve pumps, making it an ideal choice for grinding slurry, suspended/non suspended solids and pipeline size solids.

Middle stream: tank bottom recycling/handling

SANDPIPER G series heavy flap valve pump can also be well used for tank bottom recycling to avoid separation of oil, paraffin and natural gas liquid (NGL) before sending the product to the separator or transportation for treatment.

Middle reaches: water collection and transportation

Sumps help to collect all liquids such as rainwater, condensate and waste oil outside the well pad or compressor. Both AODD and GODD pumps are solutions for transporting products back to waste oil tanks for treatment.

Middle stream: compression skid mounted

Many engineering companies use long-distance compression skids in their designs, because they can safely supply power with general burned natural gas. Skid size and pressure capacity vary from station to station, but all stations need to be smooth and spill proof during start-up, operation and closure. The operator uses GODD pumps for day tanks, which store oil and coolant on these skids or in oil pan applications, whether built into the equipment base or as separate units. In any case, these liquids need to be contained and moved for healing.
