Precision alignment coupling
instructions
Incorrect alignment of coupling will cause property damage! Accurately align the motor and pump in case of height, side and angle deviation. Detailed instructions and relevant special couplings: (→ manufacturer's instructions).
Check coupling alignment
Auxiliary tools, tools and materials:
– Feeler gauge
– Straight edge
– Tablet gauge (for coupling with spacer)
– Other suitable tools, such as laser calibrators

Figure 14 Check coupling alignment
1. Measure at the periphery of the coupling in two layers, moving 90 ° each time.
2. Use a ruler (1) to check the optical gap on the outer diameter:
– Place the ruler on half of the two couplings.
– Calibrate the motor when the optical gap is on the outer diameter (→ 5.9 Calibrate the motor, page 21)
3. Check the clearance dimension with feeler gauge (2):
– Allowable clearance dimension (→ installation drawing).
– Measure the clearance dimension (A) between the coupling halves with a feeler gauge.
– Calibrate the motor if the gap size does not meet the requirements (→ 5.9 Calibrate the motor,
21 pages)

Figure 15 Measure lateral and height deviation
4. Use a tablet gauge to measure the lateral and height deviation:
– Measure as shown in the figure.
– In case of lateral and height deviation, calibrate the motor (→ 5.9 Calibrate the motor, page 21) Allowable axial or radial error measured on the coupling elevation and coupling periphery:<0.05 mm

Figure 16 Check angle deviation
5. Measuring angle deviation of tablet gauge:
– Measure as shown in the figure.
– In case of angle deviation: calibrate the motor.
Calibrate the motor
Possible calibration methods:
– Use steel sheet
– Use the adjusting screw
Figure 17 Calibrate the motor with the adjusting screw Pay attention to the rotation angle of the screw when turning the adjusting screw (→ 9.2.7 Calibrate the height deviation of the motor with the adjusting screw, page 38)
1. If the height deviation is measured, the rotation angle of the screw wrench needs to be measured (→ 9.2.7 Calibrate the height deviation of the motor with the help of the adjusting screw, page 38)
2. Loosen the hexagon screw (1).
3. Operate the following steps for all adjusting screws (3) one by one:
– Fix the adjusting screw (3) on the hexagon bolt (2) and loosen the lock nut (4).
– Turn the adjusting screw (3) to the selected angle.
– Fix the adjusting screw (3) on the hexagon bolt (2) and tighten the lock nut
(4)。
4. Tighten the hexagon screw (1).
5. Check the calibration.
6. If the height deviation still exists, repeat the calibration operation procedure.
7. Then tighten the motor bolts.
5.9.1 Calibrate the motor with steel sheet
1. Align the motor so that the central line of the half coupling is completely aligned, and the adjustable gasket can be used to pad it below.
2. Check the calibration.
3. If the height deviation still exists, repeat the calibration operation procedure.
4. Then tighten the motor bolts.
5.9.2 Calibrate the motor with the adjusting screw
Install coupling protection
Do not unscrew the nuts (902.101) that cannot be lost from the screw.
Base configuration
1. Install coupling protection (→ Fig. 23 Coupling protection in base configuration, page 35)
– Clearance between coupling protection and pump<8 mm
– The gap between the coupling shield and the motor is<8 mm, so adjust the balance tube (681.102) accordingly
