Alfa Laval recently acquired the innovative American company Sandymount Technologies, which has developed a unique Revos system to concentrate beer and other beverages. The system uses high pressure and low temperature reverse osmosis process to remove water from beer, while retaining alcohol, aroma and flavor in beer. Then, the concentrated beer can be restored. The reduction process can be carried out in the bulk packaging processing plant where the beer is bottled, canned or barreled, or in some places (such as bars) before being served to guests, using the unique Draft Dispense system also developed by Sandymount. The system can be used to concentrate ordinary beer and other beverages, and can produce non-alcoholic concentrated beer by removing alcohol and aquatic products, while producing clean ethanol water by-products, which can be used to prepare hard seltzer and other beverages. Therefore, this technology enables users to adopt the supply chain based on concentrated beer to reduce packaging and transportation costs, bring convenience to customers, simplify distribution logistics, and reduce the impact of beverage distribution system on the environment.
